Animals
We organised the types of property recorded in the survey in four broad categories: lands, trees, buildings, and animals. Animal husbandry in Ottoman Cyprus performed three main functions: (a) for human consumption (meat, milk, cheese, etc.), (b) for wool, and (c) for animal labour, using their muscle power for mills, wells, threshing floors, or ploughing.
